out.
Good morning!
I originally wrote this piece last spring and stumbled upon it recently. It felt worthy of being shared again with some new thoughts:
There is value to drawing in, contracting to the source and hugging inwards.
Equally, there is value in expanding out, seeking the bigness beyond perceived limitations.
Yoga invites us to sit in the middle of these two states, where the ground is fertile and we are both nourished by the source as well as urged into the unknown.
Most of us have a tendency towards one or the other and must put effort into staying balanced.
This last year, life has encouraged us to move in, contract and hug towards “home”, or our source. We may be in need of some expansion at this time. That expansion can take on lots of forms - stretching your body, stretching your mind, running further, meditating on the expansive quality behind your closed eyes, standing on your hands, dancing in the street, trying something new or even returning to something that creates expansiveness for you that you have missed over this past year.
Let your mind rest on the vast possibility of today, the bigness that is always there if we look for it.
Stretch out. Notice how good it feels!
