Teacher Feature: Welcome and Meet Brenda Evans!
Inner Bliss Yoga Studio is thrilled to bring on board our newest teacher, Brenda Evans.
Meet Brenda.
Tell us about your yoga journey and what brought you to Inner Bliss.
I started a consistent yoga practice after I graduated college. Because I was just starting to get my financial footing, I didn't have a whole lot of extra money to spend on a yoga studio membership. So I did a work-for-trade program where I cleaned the studio in exchange for free classes. It was a great experience and allowed me to really dive into my practice. I finally found Inner Bliss after I moved to Cleveland from Minnesota. I had been looking for a new home studio and the moment I unrolled my mat at IBY, I knew this is where I would land. The students, the teachers, the blissful practice - it all comes together as the perfect mix.
- How would you describe your teaching and classes?
Authentic and "sneaky hard." I aim to teach each class with a focus on translating the fluidity of your breath into the movement of your body. That way even the most challenging poses are met with ease.
- What is something you wish for all your students to know about yoga?
Your yoga practice is not conditional upon anything. You don't have to wait to begin until you feel flexible in your body, until you get "x y & z" done, or until you are able to quiet your mind. This practice has an amazing way of meeting you where you are - where ever that may be.
- What inspires your teaching? Other teachers? Life experiences?
I pull a lot of inspiration from music. Whether it's how you move to the melody or the story in the lyrics. I also love listening to TedTalks and Podcasts to draw inspiration.
- How do you like to spend time outside of the studio?
I am a huge animal lover, so I volunteer a lot with City Dogs Cleveland. I have a foster dog sprawled over my lap as I type this! I also love to travel - so if you see subs for my classes for a few weeks at a time, I have probably jetted off to explore a new country.
