our habits.
Good morning!
Many of your are joining me for the 29th Experience that began yesterday. One of the beauties of The Experience is the examination of our habits around caring for ourselves - our nutrition, hydration, movement, thoughts repeating in our minds, etc.
Reflecting on our habits isn’t easy, because the nature of them is that they have become mindless, repetitive and automatic - so we no longer notice them. This is awesome if the habit is to brush your teeth 3 times a day or to make your bed every morning. But if the habit evolved as a coping mechanism in a stressful time, for example, and now is ongoing, mindless and not serving you - like having a couple of glasses of wine every night or drinking coffee all day long - it may be an act of love to examine and consider ditching it.
The Experience is the container to look at the habits and examine them under the microscope of self awareness and determine: save or ditch! I love how Seth Godin speaks about habits below - read on and consider a habit that you may want to alter today and make a tiny change!
Big love,
Tammy
HABITS: By Seth Godin
Again and again and again
Ruts don’t dig themselves.
Most of the time, we’re in a rut because that’s precisely where we put ourselves.
Actions become habits, and habits get repeated because they feel safe.
The easiest way to make things more interesting is to simply stop repeating your habitual behavior.
And that often comes from reacting to triggers. Remove the triggers and you can alter the habits.
Tiny changes. Different ways to keep score.
Tomorrow comes daily. But we don’t have to take the same route to get there.
