Love has already won
I have felt this enormous rise the last couple of weeks.
A rise in awareness for sure. A rise in fear, a rise in courage, a rise in anxiety, a rise in faith. I have witnessed a rise in hand washing and a rise grocery store visits (maybe that is just in my house?).
I have observed a rise in communication and long walks. I have felt a rise in collective humility and most important, a rise in love. As if a giant wave of love was let loose to greet this virus and meet us where we are standing.
I am reminded of a favorite quote from CLE author, Meggan Watterson, “Love has already won.”
In a passage about her fears in her book Mary Magdalene Revealed, she says “We keep remembering and forgetting. We keep merging with that presence and then separating. We are here for each other to remember that, as tough and as terrifying as it gets, love has already won. Love is this merciful transference of power. Love is this compulsion to help and this humility to be helped.”
Here we sit, in a stillness previously unexplored, full of love. We are bigger than any fear and together as a collective, vibrating with more love than we knew existed. Keep breathing and moving. Releasing anything in the way of your heart expanding. It sounds really pretty in those words, but it is hard work. Remind each other, we can do this. We can imagine it as if we already did it. Love has already won.
A practice offered from IBY teacher, Abbey Spiro:
"It feels so good" practice: Get out a pen and paper. Sit down and write "it feels so good to..." and then fill in the blank. Repeat, again and again, so you end with a page full of what makes you feel good. When we choose to focus on what makes us feel good we are inviting more of that into our life. Perhaps after you finish you look at your list and actually do one or two of the things on your list for an added uplifting bonus!
