Just One Breath
Maybe you are trying to convince yourself to practice at home - since that is where we all are currently.
You know there are virtual live classes available, you have a mat and even a place to unroll it. But there are a million reasons not to practice.
Kids are loud, the dog is licking your face, roommates are frying bacon, there’s laundry and you miss going to the studio (so do I).
But you know you will feel better if you you get on your mat. In a moment such as this, your mantra is simply, "just one breath.”
Unroll your mat, take just one breath. Close your eyes, take just one breath. Sit down and be still, take just one breath.
Take one mindful, conscious breath that you feel traveling all the way in and watch traveling all the way out.
Of course we can all do that and it feels manageable. The manageability of it is the key.
Once we take the one breath, maybe we will feel better already and we will stay and take a bunch more. We have taken action and we are now moving in the direction of our practice.
Maybe once we are on our mat and breathing deeply, we will do a downdog and then maybe an updog.
Maybe once we are seated and breathing deeply, we will sink into a deep state of ease. The one deep breath gets us going.
And if it doesn’t, we still took one deep breath. And paused for one moment to then, begin again.
What we know about a deep breath:
+ it is an act of love
+ it changes everything
+ it is a state changer
+ it allows us to respond versus react
+ it opens our heart
Challenge: encourage one person to take a deep breath today and share with us their response!
Big Love,
Tammy
