liberate.
My teacher Max Strom writes in his book A Life Worth Breathing, "Gratitude humbles you, and that humility enables you to forgive. Forgiveness gives birth to sympathy and love itself, an in love we are liberated.”
Each one of us is in charge of how we stand for love, how we express it and how are guided by love. But it is undeniable that love frees us from the imprisonment of anger, hate and overwhelm. Love moves us past the heaviness of loss, less and never. Love is medicine for our greatest suffering.
Try this simple practice today: sit still, open your eyes and look around - wherever you are - and identify something for which you feel thankfulness for and then fixate on “it”. Allow all of the goodness of whatever “it” is to rise up around you. Keep looking at “it” and let the gracious nature envelop you. Feel your heart open. Feel the warmth of love rising within you and move towards that rising. Feel it within you.
Love liberates.
