you. revisited.
4 years ago I shared a journal excerpt called “you.”
What I am sharing below was inspired by that entry and in a way, version 2.0 of the original. One thing I love about writing is that the words feel different each time you read them because you, as the filter, the reader, the interceptor - are in a constant state of change.
—
you.
how are you?
not the you that is on the outside - doing errands, buying gifts, decorating, baking - not the you that is living life like an elf.
not the you that is doing laundry and grocery shopping. the you that is underneath all of that. the tender you. how is that you?
the beneath the surface you. the you that no one can see. the you that is invisible to others but felt by those who truly see you. how is that you?
the you that glows beneath the clothing, skin, tissues and organs. like E.T.
the you that gets left behind when it gets busy and stands there dejected like a small child uninvited to the party.
the you that laughs unabashedly, the you that cries without hesitation, the you that notices the smallest detail.
the you that you remember when you hear yourself singing. the you that you feel giving out free hugs.
the you that is floating effortlessly in savasana.
the you who feels it all.
the you that knows.
that you.
how is that you?
you deserve to know ❤️
