closer to.
Hi all!
I have been doing lots of personal writing, reading some new books (loving Dusk Night Dawn by Anne Lamott) and listening to some great podcasts (Beautiful Writers). In the episode of Beautiful Writers,Thrilled to Death and Destiny, Patricia Cornwell shares (in a beautiful context) her story as an author and how there were so many no’s along the way to her success. I was left with remembering that it is the no’s that get us closer to the yes’s.
To me, this a worthwhile message to consider in so many areas of our lives, including our practice on the mat.
Our bodies may say no from time to time in a certain pose if we go too far, too fast or just into a pose that doesn’t work for us. As we begin to listen carefully to our body, it may say no to certain foods or drinks. Or maybe the no is in the form of feedback or a criticism, a judgement against us, or even in the form of some kind of rejection. Sometimes the no can be to something that doesn’t feel right, saying no to someone who doesn’t align with our hearts or even saying no to the moments that make us feel far away from our self, our soul.
All of those no’s - no matter what form they come in, must be moving us closer to the yes’s. To me, this message makes me feel brave and determined. It is a message that feels like in landed in front of me for a reason. And a message to be shared because it might help someone else. You are my someone else:) Thank you for being that.
Warmly,
Tammy
