I am honored to share with you a book recently published by my dear friend and devoted IBY student, Sara Green.

Following the sudden and devastating loss of her son, Patrick, aged 19, Sara wrote The Gifts From Losing You, Sara was called to write a tribute to Patrick and all of the love that he so willingly gave to others.

In her part-memoir, part self-help book, she beautifully shares an honest, authentic and raw story of her and her family's experience during the first 12 months after losing Patrick. She shares how they found a way to weave their grief into the fabric of their lives while opening their hearts and minds to the gifts bestowed upon them. She discovers that deep despair and blessings can co-exist simultaneously in grief. This unique perspective has guided them in their healing, enabling them to live alongside their heartache. This book is a mother's love letter to her son and a family's love story.

The Foreword is written by Patrick's father, Chris, and there is a chapter written by Patrick's sisters, Annabelle and Matilda. Sara draws on her experience as a health coach and shares the self-care practices that enabled her to cope with her heartbreaking reality. She discusses how yoga and her community at IBY have been fundamental in her beginning to heal

This book is also for anyone who is looking to cultivate a deeper understanding of life's lessons, finding purpose and immortality. Sara's theme of unending love and life is interlaced throughout the book. She details a strong spiritual connection with Patrick and hopes that her insights will help others who are navigating loss by giving them hope and a place to be with their grief, a path out of the dark, towards the light.

I believe that in the most tragic, unimaginable loss, Sara finds a way to remind us that love is the greatest form of energy, it is the ultimate power that resides within and it is the grace that never ends. Please join me in sharing Sara’s work of love.

Warmly,
Tammy
