Silver Linings

It’s valuable to be mindful of caring for each other, this situation and ourselves.

But it is also impactful to let our minds rest on the silver linings of COVID-19.

Silver lining is defined as “emphasizing the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface…. that even the worst events have some positive aspect.”

When we can shift our attention from loss to what we are (in some small way) gaining, our nervous system relaxes and our energy lifts. What we think about we are in some way praying for and bringing to life. What we let our minds rest on influences what comes out of our mouth and into the world.

Our thoughts, on repeat, determine our state and how we show up for each other. When those thoughts are shared by the collective, the power magnifies.

We have a collective in our community of Inner Bliss that extends out into our yoga community of CLE believers and even further out into yogis all over the world. As a collective, let’s let our thoughts rest on the little silver linings of this situation.

Let our minds rest on tiny gifts arising from turning in, instead of going out. Let’s focus on what we are learning about ourselves and our habits. Sit in awareness of the expansion of time as we have less places to go and more moments to be. Get wrapped up in the silver linings and notice how our losses lose a little bit of power. And our nervous system relaxes. In this state we are better and have more to offer.

Practice: place a notepad and a pen (the act of writing with pen and paper deeply solidifies a thought more so than typing) somewhere you will see it often today and write down, capture on paper, all of the mini silver linings arising for you from this situation. Encourage the people you live with or communicate with, to do the same.

Many of you have seen this poem on social media, but it is worth reading again. Shared by, our teacher, Marisa Tingle:

By Kitty O’Meara: And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.

We miss you! See you on the mat this weekend!

Big love,
Tammy
