Practice the Pause

In some ways it feels a little like we are in the midst of one big, giant pause. In some moments it feels good to be in the pause and others it feels super uncomfortable. Marisa speaks below to the value of the pause. Like it or not, we can embrace the significance of the moment, in between.

Practice the Pause: We are being asked to practice the pause. We practice the pause between each inhale and each exhale. The pause between an impatient feeling and unskillful action. The pause between feeling fear and spreading it. And just like everything else, as we practice the pause we get better at it. We get better at choosing. We grow more skillful in our choices. When feeling anxious, pause and draw a deep breath right into your belly. When you feeling stuck, move your body. When feeling isolated, pause and reach out to someone you love.
