Suffering a Recent Loss? Yoga Can Help.
by Shannon Sabol and Kathy Hayes
Grief can be a lonely and confusing place.
The intention of our upcoming Healing Grief workshop is to hold a supportive space for the discomfort of grief, with others who are also in the grieving process.
When we give ourselves permission to feel things...they can move through us.
This workshop is for anyone who has suffered a previous or recent loss, such as a loved one, relationship, pet, job, or dream, and is open to using yoga as a tool to heal. All stages of grief are welcome.
In the workshop we will do gentle flowing and restorative yoga poses to bring calm and restore the body and spirit. We will also journal to bring greater understanding and reflection to grief and provide tools to use outside of class. Finally we will share some simple meditations that will help calm the mind and created acceptance of what is.
We have both experienced grief in very different ways, and both found tremendous healing through yoga. We wish to hold space for others to heal their heavy hearts through this practice we believe in so much.
During our session students can find acceptance that loss is a part of life, and realize that you are not alone in your grief. Yoga can be a safe space to move through the pain and discomfort of grief.
Simply letting feelings move through you without avoiding or clinging to anything, can help to create more compassion for yourself.
