2021 2022.
As the date on the calendar tells me that one year is about to end and a new one is about to begin, I find myself reflecting on the days that have passed and more importantly, envisioning what I am inviting in for the days to come.
While I could choose to ruminate on all that was lost in 2021 - not just my losses, but my family’s losses, my community’s losses and on and on, I am making the choice to sit with what was gained.
When I think about what I learned, what I wrote, what I invested my time and energy into and how it felt to get smarter, more resourceful and more aware this past 12 months, I feel uplifted - I feel inspired and excited to forge ahead into this new year to keep learning and building and growing and making.
When I think about the goodness that happened in 2021, I feel - in my body, strong and supple at the same time. I feel brave and open hearted. This is how I want to feel as I forge into the next month on the calendar, the new year.
I am not discounting or diminishing the incredible collective losses we have all encountered this past year.
But, I know the thoughts we think elicit feelings and those feelings create chemical reactions in our bodies that elicit more feelings. And our feelings inspire our actions.
For today, try thinking about what you gained over these past 12 months - new friendships, new opportunities, new ideas, new habits, etc.
Honor the year you lived.
You deserve to feel empowered and loved as you reflect on the good work you did this past year. Those thoughts will create good feelings within you and you will then be ready to envision what you want to see, and where you want to place your energy, in 2022.
Go ahead, sit tall, close your eyes and remember all of the good in 2021. Then take a deep breath and exhale completely as you let go of what was, allowing its’ imprint to remain in your heart. And then take your deepest breath in and open up to what you want to invite into your life in 2022!
Happy almost NYE 💛
